------------
SFE-mail v2.02 is released to the general public!
May 10, 1996
------------
A fix for systems running the JetMail QWK Door was added to SFE-mail.
JetMail was replacing the @ with a ` when posting email messages. If you
posted a message to:
ziGGy@cyber-link.net
JetMail would convert it to:
ziGGy`cyber-link.net
SFE-mail was updated to deal with these messages,.. while the message
is not changed within SPITFIRE they are exported to the mailer with a
proper email address. In other words when exporting the message SFE-mail
changes the ` to an @.

--------------
Steve Newman, SysOp of COLUMBIA SPITFIRE, contacted me concerning
messages not showing up via the Logon Message Scan or Your Message
Scan. We found that these messages didn't contain a valid email
address in the 'From field',.. as such SFE-mail was ignoring them.
The SFE-mail code was updated to check 'ALL' messages within the
configured conference for proper case and CRC values. While I was
concerned that this change would slow SFE-mail down both Steve Newman
and I feel that it is just as fast now as it was prior to the fix.

SFE-mail v2.01 is released to the general public!
The ability to post messages to Usenet newsgroups was removed from
SFE-mail. This feature made use of a FREE news server, cs.utexas.edu,
which was hard coded into SFE-mail. Well, cs.utexas.edu is no longer
FREE and any post sent to it were rejected. I searched for a FREE news
server to take it's place and was unable to find one as such this feature
was disabled. If someone knows of any news servers that will allow
messages to be posted via email let me know and I'll revive the feature.

--------------
Received netmail from Frank Vest claiming that SFE-mail wouldn't
work with his gateway as it was using a point address. After going
over the code I found that SFE-mail only supported point addresses in
the 'FROM' field of the message header. Due to this find SFE-mail was
updated to fully support point addresses.

----------------
Updated SFEMBULL to the new style addresses used by the FidoNet
gateway systems.
Old Style: @f265.n108.z1.fidonet.org
New Style: @108-265.mx1.fidonet.org
If your gateway doesn't use these type addresses get with me via
netmail and I'll add support for the type addressing your gateway uses.

SFE-mail v2.0 is released to the general public!
January 16, 1996
----------------
Received netmail from Jay Dickinson stating the changes I had made
worked,.. at this point we feel SFE-mail v2.0 is ready for release,..
all that is left is to update the documentation.
January 15, 1996
----------------
Added a routine to SFE-mail to allow outbound messages from SysOp to
be converted to SysOps real name,.. be sure to update your SFEMAIL.CFG
to reflect this change.
Started work on SFEMBULL,.. added support for both SF v3.51+ @
display codes and SF v3.5- CTRL character codes. You'll have to update
your SFEMBULL.CFG to reflect this change.

Received netmail from Jay stating that the addresses were still
wrong. After beating head against wall a few times and looking at
sample messages till I knew every byte of them I found the problem.
While the address field was correct the 'From Net' and 'To Net' were
wrong.
In looking at messages created by SFE-mail here I found that the
'From Net' and 'To Net' were correct. Baffled at this point I started
picking the code a part, what I found was an INTEGER division error.
For those that were unable to make use of SFE-mail due to bogus
addresses on outbound mail,.. as Della Moore would say 'I think you've
just been hit with that "arithmetic bug":(!!'

----------------
Jay Dickinson, SysOp of The Port Brew BBS, provided me with messages
that he said contained wrong addresses. At first look I couldn't find
anything wrong with the addresses, what I did find was that the position
of the Date / Time field was wrong. The code was altered to correct the
grunged date and a new copy of SFE-mail was sent to Jay.

Received source code from David Mark, David was the original Author
of SFE-mail and deserves credit as such:
David Mark, a SPITFIRE SysOp, wanted to provide his callers with
InterNet E-Mail. Unable to find a way of doing this to his likings,
SFE-mail was born!
Well, that was back in 1994. While David is still a SysOp he no
longer runs SPITFIRE, he runs Major BBS. The name is CyberLink and the
number is (606) 342-8400, give it a call sometime.
